Brown Speckled Cow
Named after the friendly brown cows they
look like. These true heirlooms are a hearty bean especially good in
soups. Bush type bean.
Eye of the Goat
This round, creamy heirloom bean has an
outstanding flavor that needs no extra seasoning. Fantastic in chili
or salads. Runner type bean.
Mortgage Lifters
Also know as Aztec or Pueblo beans they
are an extremely large white heirloom bean which tastes a bit like
butter beans. The name came from a farmer who was about to lose his
land and had a good crop of beans which lifted his mortgage. Runner
type bean.
Red New Mexico
From the desert Southwest, this close
relative of the Cave Bean is deep burgundy, distinctively flat and
angular. This small pinto type bean is great for bean dips, salads,
soups and salsa. Mottled with dark burgundy-brown and white
background. Runner type bean.
Tongue of Fire
A cranberry type bean grown from a seed
variety originally collected from Tierra del Fuego, on the tip of
South America, finding their way to Italy. Grown in pods that are
ivory white with red flames as they mature, this bush type bean is
small, dark to light tan with striking dark burgundy markings. |
